The Fears of a Psychic Reading
By Susan Fiandach and Connie Wake
We’ve been offering psychic-medium readings for yeeearrs! And probably one of the most common reasons people give for having a reading is the fear of hearing that something bad is going to happen in their future.
Honestly? That would make us shake in our boots, too!
Fortunately, many of the fears people bring to a reading can be eased simply by understanding the process and purpose of the experience.
At its best, a psychic-medium reading is a soul-full conversation—one of compassion, insight, reflection, and understanding. Our intention is not to predict death, despair, or dread in someone's future. We believe that free will and personal choice are paramount in the laws of the Universe...and we obey the law! :)
Psychic-medium information may acknowledge challenges, crises, difficult situations, and even what someone might consider “poor” decisions. But those experiences are generally part of a person's story—things they have already encountered, survived, learned from, and grown through. Recognizing that growth can be a powerful message within a reading.
There is also another fear that sometimes sits quietly on the client's side of the table: the fear of having their mind or heart somehow “ripped open.” The fear of being embarrassed, exposed, outed, or discovered.
A professional psychic-medium understands that sensitive information requires sensitivity.
If an area of life feels particularly personal or difficult, the client always has the ability to say, “I understand, and we can move on.” The conversation belongs to both people at the table. A professional reader should also be mindful of how deeply they are entering the client's heart and mind and, when appropriate, ask permission before exploring further.
Quite honestly, we can sometimes feel the anxiety and fear in a client when they first sit down. Many readers will address that right away—not because the fear itself needs to become the focus of the reading, but because acknowledging it can help alleviate the tension and allow the client's mind and heart to become more open to the experience.
And Then There Is the Other Side of the Table...The reader.
Yes, we have fears, too!
One of the greatest concerns for a psychic-medium is misinterpreting the information being received. There can be a fear that something is misunderstood and that the truest meaning of the information is not brought fully into the light.
That is one reason the conversation is so important during a reading.
The reader may share information, and the client may provide validation, clarification, or context. Together, the conversation helps determine where the information belongs and where the next part of the conversation needs to go. It is not about forcing an interpretation onto someone's life. It is about allowing the information to unfold and finding its meaning together.
Ultimately, our goal is to alleviate fear on both sides of the table.
If you have concerns about receiving a psychic-medium reading, talk with your reader. Ask questions. Share your boundaries. Let them know what makes you uncomfortable.
And if you are the reader, remember that compassion, respect, and permission are just as important as the information itself.
A reading does not have to be an experience of fear.
It can be a conversation.
A reflection.
An opportunity for insight.
And, ultimately, something to be explored and enjoyed.
