Patterns

by Susan Fiandach and Connie Wake

The Universe was created magnificently for life, expression, and understanding in patterns such as stars, planets, moon, numerology, mathematics with universal laws binding it altogether.  This grand design can then be seen, interpreted, understood and experienced through its patterns.

Have you ever noticed how people born under the same astrological sign—Aquarius, for example—often share similar traits? Or how numerology charts based on a person’s name and birthdate can reveal familiar themes? Palm readings, astrology, numerology, and other intuitive systems often seem to recognize truths about a person that feel surprisingly accurate.

Of course, these insights are not perfect or absolute. Yet it is intriguing how often certain characteristics appear repeatedly for a particular type of person.

Many spiritual traditions suggest that before we are born, we choose aspects of our soul’s journey—what we hope to experience, how we want to grow, and sometimes even the people who may help shape that growth. This idea is often called a soul contract.

But what if the Universe works less through fixed roles and more through patterns?

Instead of choosing a rigid script for life, perhaps we choose a pattern of potential. A pattern might be thought of as a field of possibilities—tendencies, themes, and opportunities through which life can unfold. Within that pattern, our free will remains active and flexible. Our choices influence how the pattern expresses itself, rather than locking us into a predetermined path.

In this way, we do not simply check boxes of experiences—such as deciding in advance to live as an alcoholic or a teacher or a healer. Instead, we enter a pattern that allows many variations of life to emerge as we make choices moment by moment.

As we live within our own patterns, we interact with others living within theirs. Together, these interwoven patterns create the greater whole—the Oneness of life expressing itself in countless forms.

When we begin to see life through the lens of patterns, it may also deepen our understanding of one another. Instead of judging differences as right or wrong, we can recognize them as expressions of different life patterns intersecting.

Yet patterns do not remove responsibility. Our choices still matter. Accountability for our actions remains essential. What patterns offer is a broader context—a way to understand that each life holds both structure and freedom.

Within that balance lies the opportunity to live consciously, compassionately, and fully.
