We recently addressed the practice of interpreting psychic-medium information as negative attachments or entities “on” the client. We asserted that this is an unethical and unprofessional manner by a psychic-medium as they unfold the reading. There is one reason why we make this assertion so strongly: To an unknowing client, this type of information will adversely affect their emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical being, not to mention it is an invasive move on their liberty (free will and choice).
Our main tenet in our psychic-medium service is to provide information from the client’s psychic self and from their loved ones passed in a way that is free from our own personal biases, judgments, and beliefs. Clients do not want to hear about our personal beliefs. Would you want to hear about relationships from a psychic who recently went through a terrible divorce? Or to have a reading from someone who interprets their nature as negative and demonic?
Our clients want to hear from their loved ones…they want to hear things about themselves to validate what they know, to provide insights to make an empowered step forward in their life, or to hear comfort and healing words from their loved ones passed.
It is one thing for a psychic-medium to mis-interpret information they receive…it is another to take mis-interpreted information and adversely effect another person on purpose. That’s when it turns unethical and unprofessional. AND we cannot metaphysically excuse unethical behavior, such as “…the Universe (or “soul contract”) made them have a bad experience in order to ____)” .
For example: A psychic-medium tells a grieving mother that their deceased son was plagued by negative attachments/demons. But the psychic-medium was in error. Why? Because the son suffered from severe, bi-polar depression and that is the INFORMATION from the Spirit; the “negative attachment” is the BELIEF of the psychic-medium. Through ignorance of their work, the psychic-medium chose to include their belief system instead of seeking the Spirit’s true message.
What is the true message? Evidence and information support the message, and the son may want to convey: “Mom, you know I suffered through life and you and dad gave me a home when I was at my lowest, but I am with grandma now, and I am ok. She still calls me ‘Buddy’! ” No spiritual cliches, no belief system. See the difference?
A belief system is comprised of various understandings wrapped in religions AND (new agey) spiritual expressions. Here are examples of belief systems that may be referred to in psychic-medium readings:
- Negative Energies/Entities that attach, haunt, channel another living being
- Lost Souls or Spirits who “haven’t crossed over”
- Spirit Guides, Angels, Archangels
- Karmic Debt, Soul Contracts
- Higher Vibrations/Lower Vibrations
- Old Soul, New Soul, Twin Flame, Soul Mate
- Heaven, Hell, Purgatory: Being there or NOT being there
- Sin and Suicide as a sin against God
- Souls still angry, jealous, or suffering from physical aspects of their life
It’s not that these things do not “exist.” They exist in your mind and expresses your reality. If you want to believe them, go ahead! Our free will and choice allow that in all aspects and realities of our life.
But don’t lay that stuff on another person during a “service of information” that is meant to validate, inspire, empower or heal. That’s crossing the line of compassion, ethics and the true nature of psychic-mediumship.
This view is also shared by the world-renowned psychic-medium, John Edward. In his book, “Infinite Quest” John calls out all disciples of psychic-mediumship in the first few pages of the book, quoting: “The ethical responsibility that goes into doing a reading for someone is enormously huge!” and “…ethics and responsibility are essential elements in giving a reading…” His point was that developing your psychic intuition is a way of life, a life-long way of life as a “student of the Universe.” There is only one reason to offer readings, quoting John again: “It is your ultimate responsibility to inspire others to use their free will and manifest their own realities.”
We often hear…”well, I heard (felt, sensed) Spirit to say …” but know this. Any thought that goes through your brain and out your mouth with your words has already passed through your bias, memories, personal truths, understandings, traumas, dramas, cultural, societal norms and spiritual dogma. Case in point: Edgar Cayce was a trance channeler and you may think that his channeled information was “direct” and not filtered through his brain. But Edgar Cayce was a devout Christian, and the channeled information was exactly aligned with Christian values and tenets.
We do have a spiritual understanding of the Universe, its Unconditional Love, Infinite Wisdom and Unlimited nature, power and orchestration of life. We also believe that our intuition is a natural sense that receives and interprets information from the seen and unseen around us. This helps define and create our reality in the here and now…and in that reality, compassion and respect, ethics and responsibility to ourselves and others is paramount.
