The Three "Knows" of Psychic-Mediumship

The Three “Knows” of Psychic-Mediumship

Psychic-Mediumship, as a noun, is an ability we have to receive and interpret information from energies of people, places and things around us. It’s our natural intuitive awareness we can recognize, cultivate and engage in our everyday life.

Psychic-Mediumship, as a verb, as a service to others, is the art of delivering the interpreted information in a way that facilitates growth, comfort and insight for the client.

From our years of readings, teaching, and never-ending learning to expand the depth and breadth of our understanding of psychic-mediumship, we have come to know these three key areas of responsibility, quality and ethics.

The Three “Knows” of Psychic-Mediumship are:

  1. Know Your Client
  2. Know Your Connection
  3. Know Your Self

The first “Know” is about responsibility, going beyond the accuracy of a client’s details.  Above all else, the psychic-medium–or anyone who “gives a message” in any capacity—the client’s free will and choice is paramount and must be maintained.  ASKING PERMISSION FIRST is the prime universal rule of psychic-medium service. Any other action, for any reason, violates a person’s choice to participate in an interpreted conversation.  “Know the client” means the service is about the value being provided, not the wow of the service being provided. It’s not about the reader’s gift, life purpose or showmanship. Even if you see the TV personality do it and it all fairs well, this is TV land and a set up between the TV crew, medium and client, and permission was requested…and signed for…first.  There is no “I have to tell” that trumps a person’s free will and choice, so walking up to a stranger and saying “someone in spirit wants to tell you something” is a NO-NO!

The second “Know” is about understanding. This is to understand how the communication channel works, how it works for you, and the valuable information available. This is not magic, mystical or higher enlightenment.  To receive information through energies of people, places and things is an extension of the extra sensory perception of our physical senses, through the awareness and intention of the mind. The reader strives to refine this ability for greater depth, quality and authenticity of the information being received. There are many ways to connect to Spirit to receive information, and each is unique, but the common thread is the universal source.

The third “Know” is about awareness.  This is conscious knowledge of one’s own character, feelings, motives, and desires.  You are the foundation of your service. As a psychic-medium, you are involved in the process of receiving and interpreting the information from Spirit, from others, through your senses and feelings. Your life experiences and imagination color the service…the reading. It is important, therefore, to understand yourself.  As an interpretation of the information received, it is subject to personal biases, judgments and beliefs.  The psychic-medium takes this into account to authenticate their connection…and interpretation…of the information being received. The message should not be a repackaging of the reader’s beliefs and experiences, but a true translation of spirit information.  This is the quality-control of the psychic-medium.

The responsibility, quality and compassionate nature of the work of the psychic-medium demands that attention be paid to continuous improvement in pursuit of excellence.
